Lt. Bart Everett began building this Skyhawk as a toy for his four-year-old son, Todd, in 1978. The endeavor soon blossomed into a major design challenge and after 500 hours of labor and a lot of sweat, the one-third-scale, battery-powered model was unveiled last fall in Pensacola. Many people helped with the project including personnel from VT-4 and the Blue Angels' ground crew who gave the aircraft a perfect paint job. Lt. Everett, who flew the TA-4 Skyhawk in the training command, completed the project in behalf of the Navy Recruiting District, Montgomery, Ala., where he is assigned as engineering recruiter for officer programs. The little Skyhawk will be appearing on high school and college campuses, in fairs, parades and at air shows to help the Navy recruiting effort. That's Todd in the cockpit.
